Rnd 1 - Mallala

The Hi-Tec Oils Australian Swift Racing Series returns to Mallala Motorsport Park in 2013 for the series opening round as part of Round 2 of the Shannons Nationals.
This is the first of the four sprint only rounds in 2013.
The Swift Racing Series had its debut race round in Australia in 2011 at Mallala. The series has come a long way since then as we return to Mallala with an exciting field of drivers.
About Mallala
Mallala Motorsport Park is the home of motorsport in South Australia. For many years it has provided the community with a place to race, drift, practice, hold drive days, burn rubber and of course be a great place for fans to experience a wide variety of motor sport.
Mallala Motorsport Park has a rich history spanning many years with big events such as the Shell Australian Touring Car Championship, Fujistu V8 Supercar Series, 2-litre Super Touring cars, Super Trucks, Superbikes Easter Historics and G1 Drift.
Today the circuit is still home to many national events including The Shannons Nationals, Drift Supercup and the newest event MallaNats.
2012 will be another busy year at Mallala!
Mallala Motor Sport Park is just over an hour from the centre of Adelaide. Follow the signs from Port Wakefield road, drive through the town of Mallala for a kilometre and there it is. Parking is easy, there are plenty of toilets, grandstand seats and food outlets... and you can see most of the circuit from trackside.
History
The Mallala circuit is on the site of a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) RAAF Base Mallala. It was originally developed into a motor racing venue in 1960, but fell into disuse after 1971. Its original length was 3.379 km (2.1 mi) when the northern hairpin extended eastward by some 700 metres to what was Bosch Corner. It was later redeveloped by South Australian motorsport personality Clem Smith and re-opened on June 27, 1982 to its present length.
Since its re-opening, the Mallala circuit has been used for car and motorcycle racing, along with private driver training courses. The South Australia Police use the circuit for driver training and assessment.
The circuit is no longer used as a venue for the V8 Supercar Championship Series, as in 1999 the South Australian round was transformed into the Clipsal 500 held on the Adelaide Street Circuit in the Adelaide Park Lands.
Major meetings held at Mallala annually include the Shannons Nationals, Easter Historics, the Drift Supercup and the MallaNats.
The Elfin Mallala was named after the circuit due to the fact that it competed in its first race there.
