Series Format

The Series runs with the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals. The Shannons Nationals does not draw the crowds that enjoy V8 Supercar events. However, interest continues to grow and all of the rounds are at Australia’s best circuits. Racing is enjoyable and well managed, and garages/paddock access are more user friendly than the ‘bigger’ events. www.thenationals.com.au

Also, all rounds of the Series are run with the Shannons Nationals to ensure industry support, a stable format and consistency of officials, series personnel, and TV product etc. In addition, the proven format will ensure that the competitors know what to expect at each round.

The Australian Swift Racing Series provides some exciting choices to pick from (see schedule below).

There are 7 rounds, made up of:
4 x Sprint Rounds

3 x Combined Rounds.....these 3 rounds include one 15 minute sprint race and a 1 hour race. The one hour race will be a ‘track share’ arrangement with the Australian Manufacturers Championship endurance race.

Trophies will be awarded to the 3 highest point scorers at each round, and again for the overall points at the end of the series.

The round format for Sprint Rounds (Rounds 1,3, 5 & 6) is:

  • Two x 20-minute practice sessions.
  • One x 20-minute qualifying session.
  • Three x 20 minute races expressed as a number of laps.
The round format for ‘Combined’ Rounds (Rounds 2, 4 & 7) is:
  • Two x 20-minute practice sessions.
  • One x 20-minute qualifying session.
  • One x 15 minute race expressed as a number of laps.
  • One x 1 hour race being the first hour as a ‘track share’ with the scheduled Australian Manufacturers Championship endurance race.

Unofficial practice sessions (usually 3 x 20 minutes) will be available. These sessions are normally conducted on the day prior to the Shannons Nationals rounds. An entry fee (between $100 and $175) is payable directly to the promoter. These sessions are not compulsory.

Competitors will also have a bonus opportunity to enter three multi-driver endurance races (4 hour/3 hour/3 hour races), which will be run as a Suzuki Swift class in the Australian Manufacturers Championship.

That is, following the one hour Australian Suzuki Swift Racing Series races, competitors may continue on (after a driver change) if they choose this option.

Trophies will be awarded as ‘class’ trophies by the Australian Manufacturers Championship and the results will not be incorporated in the Australian Suzuki Swift Racing Series.
